Week 1 of Master Key System

by Dan on July 29, 2011

The experience has been intriguing, to say the least, since I started reading and applying Master Key System.  As I said, this a 26 week course, so it’s a slow builder.  The first week’s lesson covered basic concepts about the power of the mind and how the inner world creates the outer world.

The exercise for Week 1 was to sit in a quiet place and sit absolutely still, letting your thoughts wander as they may.

This is well below the meditation exercises I’ve done in the past, so I felt inclined to jump ahead.  However, I understood that the point of this course was to slowly build momentum until you could gain total control of your thoughts and the environment.  I figured there is no harm in building a solid foundation so I stuck to the lesson plan, which I will do for the rest of the course as well.

Interestingly enough, the exercise was a lot harder than I imagined.  When I’ve meditated in the past, I’ve let my arms and legs shake out energy as needed.  This time, I was keeping everything completely still, which was much more difficult.

To make things even more challenging, I started falling asleep during the sitting sessions.  I’ve never had trouble with staying awake during meditation before, so I found this very interesting.  I wondered whether my ego saw this exercise as a threat and started trying to interfere.

I’ve felt an increase in my discipline since using this system.  When you gain the power to restrain your body even a little bit, it extends to the rest of your day.
